Angela Parrino, Ph.D.

Angela Parrino, Ph. D., formerly a tenured Associate Professor of the MA in TESOL Program at CUNY-Hunter College from 1990-2006, received her BA from SUNY/Stony Brook and her MA and Ph.D. from New York University. Angela has both teaching and staff development experience in the areas of English as a Second Language, Bilingual, and Foreign Language Education; she is trilingual (English, Spanish and Italian) and a published author. She has taught as well as mentored teachers and teacher interns stateside in New York City public schools and colleges and abroad in South America, Europe, and Asia.

Angela pursued a second career in healthcare. Before Physician Assistant and Nursing studies, she shadowed medical teams at NY Cornell, NYU Medical Center, and St.Vincent’s Hospital; she volunteered at Calvary Hospice. In 2004, she worked as a translator and surgical secretary in Iquitos, Peru for Interplast, a non-profit organization that provides gratis surgeries for indigenous children with physical defects. She was Director of Liberal Arts & Sciences for the RN-BSN Program at Beth Israel School of Nursing from 2014-2016. Angela has also provided Spanish classes for residents of the Montefiore Medical Center and trained home health aides for 1199 SEIU.

In 2009, Dr. Parrino created GP’s Honey Tomes, LLC, an indie publishing company, dedicated to the literacy needs of children ages 3-10. GP’s books highlight the six principal areas of wellness- physical, mental, emotional, interpersonal, environmental, and spiritual.
