Under the Sea With Addie
Addie notices that the sea floor is littered with coconut shells that humans discarded. and in an attempt to clean up the environment, Addie gathers them during her daily jogs from one end of the sea to the other. She builds a home that gets so tall it eventually peeks through the water, causing humans to question its origin. Addie’s mother encourages her to tell her story to the humans who inquire above so that they may become more sensitive to taking care of the environment in which all creatures live. Based on the behavior of the real life species of octopuses known as Amphioctopus marginatus, invertebrates who use coconut shells to build their homes beneath the water, Under the Sea with Addie is the fourth book of a six-book children’s wellness set. It focuses on the theme of recycling and as such, highlights environmental wellness. Appropriate for grades Pre-K-3, as well as the child in all of us, the other books in the set address physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and interpersonal wellness.
