Teaching the Roosevelts: Using Nonfiction to Spark Big Ideas in History Classrooms

October 8, 2025 @ 4:30 am - 5:30 pm

In this workshop, author, history educator  Molloy alumna, and Long Island Authors member Donna Catapano shares how her book, “Franklin & Eleanor: The Parents of the Modern Day Democrat,” can be used as a classroom tool to explore the evolving world of politics and the social and economic legacy of the Roosevelts.

Participants will engage with open-ended unit questions, historical thinking prompts, and activity ideas that connect the book’s themes to broader topics in history. Learn how nonfiction texts can foster critical inquiry and make history more engaging for today’s students.
