Nikki Cestaro

Nikki Cestaro is a longtime hairstylist/salon owner who decided it was time to tell her story from the other side of the salon chair. In her debut book “SuperHairo”, Nikki gives great insight into what life is really like for a beauty professional in today’s climate… the demands from clients, the physical toll it takes on one’s body to work effectively, and the struggle hairstylists face try to survive and thrive in this beautiful industry.
Her humor and candor is apparent as you read this memoir, it is a great easy read, suitable for anyone who has ever sat in a salon to receive services, or for those who work in any version of service business.

Nikki owns her salon Karma Beauty Studio in Merrick NY for the last 19 years, and has been a hairstylist since she was 15 years old, choosing an after school job over participating in sports or school activities. She knew she found her destiny on her very first work day, even though she soaked the first person she had to wash. Turning that negative situation into a life lesson, she worked hard to excel in everything she did, and it’s gotten her to where she is today.
She took to writing her book by journaling her private thought and frustrations from her sometimes grueling career, and used her childhood love of creative writing to put it all together for the world to see.

Nikki lives in Dix Hills with her husband Joe, and has no desire to retire from the beauty industry. “I make people happy everyday, who else can say that? I’ve got hairspray running through my veins, I’m not going anywhere…”
