Monica Conover-Tehomilic

This is the author’s first attempt at writing a book, any book! She has recently completed the first and second book for a children’s series of five to six books based on the many challenges facing a growing family through adoption, be it with children or dogs or both. Her beautiful Cavalier King Charles Spaniels were adopted after she and her husband John adopted eleven-year-old blonde, blue-eyed twins from upstate New York (one boy, one girl). Along the way, Monica and John also included a few other unofficially adopted children and young adults and grew their family. Both the children and dogs presented them with a very exciting and challenging life. Monica is also a hobbyist photographer (sixty years) and took myriads of photos of the children and dogs as they grew into a unique loving family.

Monica graduated from Hofstra University on Long Island and majored in Mathematics, with two minors in Music and Education. After two jobs teaching Math and Music to K-12 children in New York and New Mexico in the late seventies, Monica’s career then moved into the business world. Business writing became a huge part of her 30-year career as a Project Management Specialist, organizing and guiding Project Offices within multiple business fields to plan, report and control project deliveries.

Why start writing, you ask?? While cleaning out the family home after her parents had passed, a small and unfamiliar brown journal in her father’s handwriting was found on the driveway. It wasn’t until later that night when home, Monica realized that small pad was her father’s flight log that he kept while serving with the US Army Air Corp in the Western South Pacific during WWII (1943-1945). Reading her father’s thoughts and fears and dreams in that most challenging part of his life propelled her to begin writing and she is now in pursuit of a publisher for her children’s series first while finishing the manuscript for her father and mother’s memoir.
