Mike LoMonico

Michael is the author of two novels. His first was “That Shakespeare Kid,” a Young Adult novel about a boy who could only speak lines from Shakespeare. He turned to his Italian heritage with his newly released novel, “Brooklyn to Yellowstone: A 1933 Civilian Conservation Corps Odyssey.” Set in Summer 1933, this work of historical fiction begins in a Sicilian neighborhood in New York City and shifts to a CCC camp in Yellowstone Park in Montana.

He also wrote two reference books, “The Shakespeare Book of Lists,” and “Shakespeare 101,” published by Random House. He was the founder and editor of “Shakespeare Magazine,” published by Cambridge University Press and Georgetown University. He was an assistant to the editor for the curriculum section of all three volumes of the Folger’s Shakespeare Set Free series, published by Washington Square Press. He was also the technical editor to “The Complete Idiot’s Guide to Shakespeare.”

Until 2019, Michael was the Senior Consultant on National Education for the Folger Shakespeare Library in Washington, DC. Since 1986, he had worked at the Teaching Shakespeare Institute at the Folger as an institute director and master teacher. He organized and directed two-day and week-long Folger Institutes across the U.S.

Michael taught high school English on Long Island for 33 years and English Methods and Adolescent Literature at Stony Brook University.
